Should the cable cross-section be the same throughout the wiring?
The main wire from the meter to the distribution box is a cross-section of wires of 4 squares, then to lighting 1.5 squares, to sockets 2.5 squares. One friend said that if the main wire is 4 squares, then the rest of the wires should be of the same cross section. I do not get the point of it. Tell me, is this so, or can all the same wiring be done by the power of electrical appliances?
Your acquaintance is not quite right and at the same time partly right. But you definitely can’t miss more than 16A on this cable, since limit them to automatic. Because the sockets to which you connect it are designed for current up to 16A. If you want to hang everything on 1 opening machine, then this will reduce the safety and reliability of the apartment electrical network.
