    The voltage relay is designed to trip a specific load current. If this current is exceeded, the service life of the relay will be significantly reduced, and it will quickly fail.
    There is also such a thing as a switching resource - the number of on / off switches for which the relay power contacts are rated at rated current. That is, the voltage relay in any case does not last forever and with each switching on / off the load, the power contacts gradually wear out.
    Also, the voltage relay may fail due to excessive voltage surges. For example, during a thunderstorm or due to an emergency in electrical networks, in which a surge of high voltage may occur in the network.
