First of all, it is necessary to take into account that the meter is designed for a certain current, usually it is 50 or 60 A. Accordingly, the plant does not provide for connecting a large cross-section cable to the meter. That is, the cable was initially improperly selected. If the load current is greater than the current for which the meter is designed, then current transformers are used to connect the cable to the meter. A cable of any cross section is connected to the current transformers, since the connection is made by connecting the crimped cable end to the current transformer bus.
If you need to connect a cable with a large cross section to smaller terminals, then special screw terminal blocks are used for this, which are designed for the range of connected wires.
But you yourself do not have to connect anything. The metering device is connected to the mains only by the supplying organization, they will determine the optimal connection method based on local conditions.
