Can I keep the 220 / 12V power supply constantly on?

Andrew asks:
Is it possible to connect a power supply unit from 220 to 12, which translates into permanent operation, that is, 24/7, or can I make such a socket with such a converter for 12 volts for constant operation? Can something catch fire or wiring fail?

The answer to the question:
What is a “permanent power supply unit?” Probably a typo? Why catch fire then? For most people, mobile phone chargers are never unplugged, and this is essentially a 220V 5V power supply, although this is not good.

So, in principle, nothing should happen, provided that the power supply is of high quality, it has a fuse, and at least some kind of varistor with input protection. Do not buy a Chinese know-name for 2 copecks and use your health!

Ignition can occur as a result of a power surge and breakdown of the input circuits of the PSU, provided that its fuse does not blow out (which is unlikely) and does not knock out the machine (and this can happen).
