How to choose a wire or cable for a line length of 1500 meters?

Maxim asks:
Good afternoon. Tell me, we are in a field, there are no poles nearby, 1500 m is near the village (we need a cable, wire for light, and charging phones) what is needed? appv 2x2.5?
The answer to the question:
Hello! For a couple of light bulbs and charging phones, this may be enough, but highly it is unlikely and likely to be dimly lit. Because the distance is very large, so under load there will be voltage drops. Where did you get the APPA? Nobody uses such wires, especially aluminum. Take something like a copper VVG 2x6, if it’s just for a pair of LED bulbs and charging, or better yet an even larger cross section - 2x16, 2x25, then you can turn on the kettle, for example.

How are you going to lay it at all if there are no pillars? For such long lines it is better to use thicker conductors, and if through the air - then SIP with a cross section of 16 mm² and higher. By the way, you can calculate the wire cross section using our online calculator.
