Which RCD block to choose for a washing machine and is it needed at all?

Hello. We ask you for help in resolving this issue. On domestic water heaters, an RCD block is installed in front of the plug. First question: why is this unit not installed in washing machines? Since, as a result of leakage of current through the heater, the washing machine can be shocked, and when it is plugged into an outlet with ground, it works without stopping, it turns on and works without stopping. We have a washing machine. And the second question: Is it possible and necessary to install an RCD with the unit, if so, then what power and how to choose it (brand, type) so as not to be shocked? Thank. We look forward to hearing from you.

Residual current devices are installed on all electrical appliances that are dangerous from the point of view of electric shock. These electric appliances include both a water heater and a washing machine. Accordingly, it is always recommended to install an RCD to protect against possible current leakage during operation of the washing machine. As for the type of RCD, in this case you have two options - the RCD block in the socket or the installation of the RCD in the electrical distribution panel, from where this wiring line is supplied that feeds the washing machine. RCD choose type A, as for the manufacturer - look from the available range, cost. Differential tripping current - 10 mA. The rated current of the RCD is one step higher than the rated current of the machine, which is installed to protect this wiring line. For example, if there is a 16 A circuit breaker, then choose an RCD for a rated current of 25 A.
