When a person enters the corridor and presses this switch, the light turns on, and when he exits and presses the second switch (at the end of the corridor), the light goes out. In your case, a circuit with two pass-through switches is used (attached to the comment). The principle of operation of the circuit is quite simple: when you change the position of the key of one of the switches, one of the circuits will open, the other will close. As a result, you can turn on the light at the beginning of the corridor (close the circuit) and turn off the light at the end of the corridor (open the circuit).
